Changes are chances

"Damn, you've changed" is mostly used in a accusing way. But why are so many people afraid of changes? A change is always a way to improve yourself, even if they might seem bad at first. You can still improve by dealing with it in a way that builds up on your general management skills and experience. So if you get yourself so far that you don't bother about a change that was bad at first, that's an improvement, isn't it?

So changes are chances to improve yourself. But what if it simply doesn't work out for you? Then maybe this change got you out of a hole in which you were stuck and that stopped you from deesperately improving the situation itself. So do you now have an idea of what would be perfect and even better than before? This is your chance improve the thing within the process of changing.

Hamburg Longboard Spots - Hamburg HafenCity

So this week, I went for a tour through the youngest district of Hamburg: the HafenCity. So pretty much the HarbourCity, doesn't sound that nice, does it? While being the youngest district it is also the most discussed one. Billions of Euros wasted for building the Elbphilharmonie from 2007 probably until 2017. The controversy on the modern architecture destroying the flair of the district.

Within a hundred meters there is a change from the left picture - the old look of the district - to the right one with the new buildings. Each of the styles is beautiful in its own way but it wasn't the best idea to put them right besides each other.

The HafenCity is on the top list of Hamburg's most expensive districts. With a wide offer of high class shops and designer stores there come the matching apartments. For example the penthouse of the Marco Polo Tower - as seen on the picture below - right at the riverside with an awesome view over the whole harbor and the city. At least that's what I guess as I've never had the opportunity to get up there. Also it is located right next to the Unilever headquarters and the Cruise Center where many cruise ships start their journey.

Still I can't decide what I like better - old or new architecture. Let me know about your opinion on this controversy. And as always: Protect your spots and keep exploring.

Alien Post - Guardians Of The Galaxy

Welcome to awesome! Long awaited, highly praised and watched millions of times already for sure. Guardians of the Galaxy is a strong competitor for movie of the year, but for some it is the the movie of the decade - or even the movie they waited for since their childhood.

Based on the latest Guardians Of The Galaxy comic-series this is one of the movies that let you slip into the Marvel universe quite easily. Although there is plenty of background to find in several comic series that tell storylines close to the one in the movie with different characters and twists, the movie tells enough to make you understand how each of the members has their own background.

Awesome storytelling: CHECK.

Let's go on to the humor. Sometimes a little awkward in terms of just dumb jokes, but on the other hand the characters are just hilarious. I mean, a tree? They all just make you think "You serious?!". So, not all jokes actually work on you but the quote is quite high. Of course, one got to let oneself in for it. You can make any joke bump off yourself by just telling it's too dumb. But this movie will make you laugh a lot.

Awesome humor: CHECK.

The view on Knowhere. The panorama of Xandar. VFX and world designers make this movie also a great event for those of you who like to get amazed by fictional worlds and places. The 3D effects are a little lame in the over all view. In the beginning there are some shots that just provoke you to hate this 3D madness that evolved of the last years. Shooting through different layers of stone formations for example just makes the stones look like cardboard props. Still there are so many scenes that remind you of the high professionalism of the team behind the movie and the theory that is still used in videography.

Awesome quality: CHECK.

So, if you have the possibility to watch the movie in the original version, do it. I watched both, the original version and the German dubbed one. And as always. the former is the better.

Blogs To Read - Jennypurr

© Jen Carrington
May I introduce: Jen Carrington. With her blog Jennypurr, that was founded in March 2013, she is currently reaching more than 10,000 readers every month. When she isn't working on her daily post for Jennypurr she has plenty of writing to do outside the blog as she works as a freelance writer and also as an editor for A Little Opulent, an online lifestyle magazine. After graduating from Lancaster University last summer she figured out that she would concentrate on online content
creation.

She divides her posts into four categories: Life, blogging, freelancing and beauty. Sometimes these categories can't be kept apart - that's what happens when you write what you think and want to instead of sticking to the rules - but she doesn't struggle to keep the blog's structure upright.

Still, Jen does not work only with passion but also with professionalism. She actually keeps the business woman and the girl in her early twenties in perfect balance. On the one hand her posts are advice on everyday life but never without at least a chunk of help on workflow and evolving yourself and your writing.

Her most important message - in my words - is still: Don't do it the best way possible, do it your way. If you want to learn more about what she means by that, need advice on freelancing and blogging and still want to get updated on the best in beauty, just stop by at http://www.jennypurr.co.uk/ or visit her on Bloglovin.

Blogs To Read - What I Read

Here we have another series I thought would be nice to have in the blog. This actually means that each of my Saturday series will - together with the Hamburg Longboard/Bike Spots - release in a three-week pattern.

As you know (If not you didn't read any of my recent posts to the end), I recently joined Bloglovin, the perfect website to keep up with all the blogs you follow. Also it is perfect to explore blogs through all the different blogging platforms that are out there. Although I don't have a reach that would be useful for the bloggers I feature, I want to show you some nice blogs to read. And if you know a blog I might like and you would like to have featured just tell me in the comments of any of the Blogs To Read posts. To get this going I wanted to get this pre-series post out this Wednesday so the first feature will release on Saturday.

Hamburg Bike Spots - Once Upon a Time

Wonder why I chose this title? Well, this spot is still pretty nice. Beautiful views over the water and the fields, a nice BMX/MTB trail and lots of green. Your butt gets tortured a lot, but I guess that's just another side effect when riding your bike off road. This is the Westensee, a small artificial lake that was planned to become a hotspot for young families.

The problem is that it is pretty much at the west end of all the south-east suburbs. So, opposite of the resedentials there is nothing but fields and industrials. Doesn't sound that awesome, right? But on top there are plenty other lakes that are either more central or have better water and surroundings and therefor attract more people.

Over the last years the environment was pretty much left to itself and now there are more than two thirds of the beach covered in grass and all kinds of plants. Also the paths that made for wonderful bike trails became to tight with spiked branches on both sides to just shoot through them. I am actually quite shocked by that as I haven't been there for more than a year. And suddenly a wild nature appeared.

So next time I will visit another lake that is a lot better for a nice bike ride as well as your workout rides, even if it might be harder to reach. Also there is something new planned this Wednesday and Saturday. Until then, respect your spots and keep exploring.

Smile, guys!

Over the past week there was only one thing to do when I was on a train. I searched for smiles - and hardly found them. But it is awesome how smiles can help you through the day. Well, at least they help me. Every time someone randomly smiles at me I get this awesome boost that gets me to reach my goals. But one of the best things about it is that you carry that feeling on to other people because you get that happy and friendly smile as well.

This sounds great but not likely at all. You really gotta look into a lot of people's faces to find someone that makes it work. You might think you look silly because you're smiling all day and you're the only one. But it's totally worth it. That feeling you get is just awesome.

Still there's one thing about me that doesn't seem to match with anybody else: I feel really close these people. And the moment we loose eye-contact I miss them because they are just so rare out on the street and I wanna know more people like that. At the very same moment I think that wouldn't work out because a very big part of this effect is that you don't know that person.

But now that I am thinking about this all day I guess that maybe I can't even make it work but it works on me. That's a terrible feeling. Still I have faith in the people and will go on being happy, smiling at everyone and trying to get them happy by that seemingly tiny task. And if you are with me tell me about it, get other people to go with us and don't let anybody bring you down.
